Alarm Systems as the Face of Home Automation

Alarm Systems as the Face of Home Automation

Within the last decade, there’s been an increasing trend in the development of “smart homes” and general home automation. For instance, we have all most likely seen products such as Nest, the programmable, self-learning thermostat system, which has the ability to completely automate your home’s temperature all on its own. The concept of home automation is very broad and ranges from everyday appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers, to intricate alarm systems that automate lighting patterns and notify homeowners of significant events. As a result of this, the growth in home automation has swept across nearly all household appliances, becoming more advanced with each passing year. An article that we recently posted describes some of the capabilities of Digital Monitoring Products’ (DMP) Virtual Keypad App, which is a perfect example of home automation in the security industry.

The system provides the user with automation capabilities such as lighting schedules as well as general entry point monitoring that are accessible from both the actual keypad as well as the Virtual Keypad App. Alarm systems are evolving to represent the face of home automation and digitalization. Below are some pictures of the wireless keypad offered by DMP. The photos illustrate the perfect mixture of automation and manual use offered by the system in an easy-to-use touch screen display. Although other manufacturers offer similar keypads, DMP’s does an excellent job of integrating the Virtual Keypad Application (and desktop version) with the system and stationary keypad.

In the case of a security breach, the user will encounter the screen pictured above along with the opportunity to enter their code and declare the breach valid. The favorites menu displayed to the right contains the automation schedules that you can enact from the keypad or the keypad application.

When arming the system, the user can choose between the three modes shown above. Each mode possesses different monitoring characteristics with regards to activated sensors.

The screenshot depicted above demonstrates how the user can create different schedules to activate under different circumstances. The schedules contain previously selected settings for lights, thermostats and many other home appliances that initiate with the tap of a schedule. From the same app the user can check their cameras and turn on and off their alarm system.

The pictures above reveal how a system such as DMP’s ties together the entire home automation world into one complete package all controlled on one platform. Most importantly, it is integrated into your home security system allowing for ultimate control and safety when managing your home’s automation capabilities.
