Fire Protection-Just as Important as Theft Protection.
One might assume that their premises are equipped with the proper smoke detectors as it obviously managed to pass an inspection; however, this is not always the case. In fact, a fire station in Salt Lake City, Utah caught fire in 2015 and is still inoperable because, as the firefighters say, it was not equipped with enough smoke detectors. Additionally, the smoke detectors were not properly placed or installed, which led to only one detector actually sounding once there were flames present inside the building. As a result, nine firefighters required medical treatment due to smoke-related injuries.
Although fire alarms are typically viewed as a legal necessity, an effective fire alarm system can be crucial to protecting the contents of your building, including individuals. While loss due to theft is the primary concern for many, fires can rip through buildings destroying everything inside, costing millions of dollars in damage and posing a threat to anyone inside the building. Integrating a thorough, monitored fire alarm network into your security system is essential to detecting a fire early and ultimately saving lives and money.
